/acqui-ˈhaɪə/

Acqui-hiring is a notion used to describe the process of acquiring a company to recruit their employees rather than to control their product.

Derived from the words “acquisition” and “hiring”, this phenomenon is somewhat new in the tech industry, but it comes as no surprise since recruiting for top tech positions has become highly competitive.

Companies that acqui-hire other companies save valuable time and money through this process by hiring a substantial number of talents in a short period of time.

If a company is experiencing financial difficulties, this way they can make an exit. Investors also benefit from this as they get to recover some or most of their money.
